Sound of Silence

Back home in my room,
In my sanctuary,
Peaceful and tranquil,
I'm finally left to indulge myself,
In myself,
The sound of silence echoes through me,
Taking my thoughts far away,
Recalling long forgotten thoughts,
Dreams long lost,
Finding me once again,
A younger me,
smiling back at me,
Yes, I've come a long way,
But just like then,
Knowing not what tomorrow brings,
Yet setting my sight years ahead,
Always hoping the best,
Expecting the worst,
Dreaming of things that may or may not come to be.
